About Me

I am a person who has been in many different situations in life, good or bad they all left something that has made me the person I am today. I am very passionate about certain things and when I am, I usually give it my all. Overall I have a great life with friends and a wife that care about me. When things don't go my way I try and look at the positive side, I always say things work out in the end and I really believe it. One of my big passions is my Dad's old truck that was passed down to me, it is in the early stages of being restored now, full details of that can be found here at AndyandAmanda.net . The short version of my life is as follows. I was born in Colorado where at the age of three I lost my Father in a blizzard. Shortly after my Mother moved us to Ohio where I spent a few years until I was twelve when I moved back to Colorado to live with other family members. I was an only child and enjoyed every minute of it. With plenty of cousins around I did not feel that I was missing anything. I learned a lot about life from my Grandfather on my dads side of the family. As I got older I ended up moving to Boulder then Phoenix Arizona then back to Colorado. I have worked several different jobs and they all taught me something new and interesting. One of my passions has always been movies and science fiction. I am always drawing ideas that I have for one thing or another, couple that with learning to model in 3D and I am always coming up with something that I think is cool.

Unique Skills

So this is some of the things that will not show up on a resume. I have done everything from rebuilding engines and transmissions, to designing my own exhaust manifold design tool. I have learned how to weld and cast aluminum in sand. In addition I have worked in home construction doing such things such as framing, finish work, siding, painting, and installing hardwood floors, Slate and tile. In my family you were taught to do things for yourself whenever possible. In addition when someone needs help you are expected to jump in and lend a hand.

I have worked in the commercial structural and residential architectural fields. Combine that with the construction skills I have and I think I make a great designer both as a drafter and as well as a animator.

Animation and Video

Ever since I saw Star Wars for the first time I wanted to be able to create some of what is going on in my head. Learning to model and animate in 3D was one of the best things I could have ever done. Editing video was another great moment for me. Having the ability to change the complete feel and purpose of a video clip just by determining what to show or more importantly what not to show.

Cars

I love old 71 Barracuda's, 67 Camaro's and who doesn't love a 30's Duesenberg. New cars are great as well, a nice little lotus elise or a Aston Martin DB9 would be heaven on wheels. Basically I am not a fan of picking one car manufacturer and following everything they do like some sort of religion, bashing everything else. All car companies have made stinkers. They have also made great works of engineering and art combined in one beautiful package. Some cars were very good for their time, however they can now be made better with new technology. A new modern small block V8 in an old 77 ish 280Z would be a good example.

Truck restoration

My project is as follows. I have a 1971 Ford F-250 4x4 Custom Deluxe, commonly known as a highboy. It has a 390 FE engine, 4 speed New Process 435 transmission, Dana 24 transfer case, Dana 40 front axle and Dana 60 rear with drum brakes all around. I am going to install a 2002 Lincoln Navigator 5.4L DOHC Modular engine controlled by an EEC-V computer from with a Ford 6 speed ZF S6-650 transmission from a 2wd truck. My transfer case is known as a divorced transfer case. This means it is not attached to the transmission but has a short drive shaft attaching it to the transmission, so I didn't want the 4x4 version. I plan on using the current transfer case and rear differential. The '77.5 - '79 F250 and F350 had Dana 60 front and rear differential with disk brakes on the front. I will stick with the older axles and add disk brakes from Blackbirds custom trucks. Of course I will be upgrading the master cylinder as well in order to be safe.
